GETTING STARTED: |

|
Do you have
to come in to a studio? |
| |
We feel that pets are more comfortable in their own familiar
surroundings. To capture the best face of your fur buddy,
we bring the studio to you. Our approach is simple –
we aim to capture natural, unobtrusive images of our subjects
that reflect their unique features and personality. We are
fully portable and prefer to photograph your dog or cat
in ‘real-life’ moments doing what they normally
do in their favorite hangouts – curled up in the rocker,
napping on the desk, watching birds from the back of a chair.
Or, if you’re looking for a more traditional portrait
style, we can also bring a variety of backdrops and supplemental
lighting.

information regarding additional
charges for travel time and expenses. All session locations,
indoor and outdoor, are subject to our discretion.
|
What
days and times are we available? |
| |
Sessions can be scheduled for any day of the week. As,
we love to photograph animals in natural light, indoor sessions
are best scheduled when your home has the most daylight.
However, when indoor natural light is limited or less than
perfect, we can supplement with lighting equipment. Outdoor
sessions are most effective when the sunlight is not too
harsh. This would be the ‘magic hour’ either
early morning or late afternoon. Outdoor sessions in the
hot, summer are also limited to very early in the morning.
|
How
much does a session cost? |
| |
Pricing varies according to the length of the session,
how many animals are involved and the type of finished portrait
piece that you desire. Please visit our Pricing
section on our website for detailed information on session
and portrait pricing.
|
What
happens during a typical session? |
| |
When we first arrive, we take some time to get to know
your pet(s). We’ll take a look at some of the possible
shooting locations and discuss what kinds of photo images
you would like us to capture. It will take a few minutes
to then bring in and set up any equipment that we’ll
be using and to move any household items to create a more
clutter-free background or setting. We’ll take a few
preliminary photos to check the lighting conditions. When
the shoot starts, we’ll experiment with different
compositions and profiles. Our specialty is close-up animal
expressions, but we’ll also take medium-length and
full body shots as well. Depending on the length of the
session, we’ll take frequent breaks, as animals have
short attention spans.
|
How
long does a session take? |
| |
An average session takes 1 to 1 ½ hours. We also
offer mini-sessions of 45 minutes to more in-depth 2 ½
hour sessions. Please visit our Pricing
section on our website for more detailed information
on what is involved in each of the different session options.
|
How
many shots do we take? |
| |
The total number of shots varies with the length of
the session and how many animals are involved. An average
session of 1 to 1 ½ hours usually provides a minimum
of 50 shots.
|
How
many animals will we photograph in a shoot? |
| |
Our portrait sitting prices are based on a photo session
with one or two animals. For each additional animal add
$25 as it takes a bit more time to give attention to additional
portrait subjects. Ethical and responsible breeders, may
inquire about special discounts for photographing litters.
|
Will
we accommodate special photographic needs? |
| |
Yes, if you have a special photo requirement such as
a photo for a kennel, cattery or barn ad, campaigning a
Specials dog, an Agility shot, etc. please let us know when
setting up your session.
|
Do
we photograph people? |
| |
We generally just photograph animals; but, under special
circumstances we will consider taking candid, interactive
photos of you and your pet. Please inquire.
|
What
if the animal isn’t very well trained? |
| |
Calm animals that respond well to basic commands enable
us to be more creative. If your pet is shy, nervous or hyperactive,
it will probably require more time to put it at ease. You’ll
want to consider purchasing a longer session to make sure
that we have the time necessary to work with your animal
and get those great shots. With time and patience, we’re
confident we’ll capture images that you’ll be
pleased with.
|
What
if the pet doesn’t ‘cooperate’ during
the session? |
| |
Photographing pets can be a challenge in that they are
unpredictable and don’t take direction well. Pet photography
is a paradox of planning plus accident. If you are not completely
satisfied, we will give gladly refund 50% of the session
fee and you are under no obligation to purchase prints.
|
How
should you prepare for a session? |
| |
Take a moment and look at the shots in our image gallery.
Are there specific types of images or poses that you would
like to capture. Scout out some possible photography locations
around your house and yard. Then, take the time to prepare
your pet(s). They should be clean and well groomed. It is
helpful if they have been exercised to take the “edge”
off and if they are a little hungry so they will respond
to treats. Also have their favorite toys close at hand.
|
When
will you get to see the images? |
| |
Within 7 - 10 days, we will email you a PDF file with
images from the session. Each image will be
labeled with your pet's name and a unique number for easy
reference when selecting your photos.
|
Is
there a minimum portrait order? |
| |
We do not require a minimum order, nor do we force you
into buying a specific ‘package’ with a set
number of prints. Please see our Pricing
section on our website for more detailed information
on portrait art pricing.
|
Will
we help you select images for photo groupings/collages? |
| |
At the beginning of the session, you should have ideas
about your portrait needs. Where do you want to hang it?
How large do you want it? Are there specific colors you’d
like to incorporate. During the viewing we will show examples
of finished photo art pieces and can make suggestions for
digital art and portrait collages.
|
What
if you don’t like the results of the photo shoot? |
| |
Photography, as in any artwork, is very subjective.
In addition, we can’t always count on our furry friends
to be completely cooperative. One day they might be compliant
and willing participants and the next day, holy terrors.
With enough time and patience, we’re confident we’ll
capture images that will please you. But, if you are not
completely satisfied, we can retake, if needed, or will
refund 50% of the session fee. You are under no obligation
to purchase prints.
|
What
forms of payment do we take? |
| |
We accept cash and checks. There is a $25 fee for returned
checks.
|
Do
we offer gift certificates? |
| |
Yes, they make a perfect gift! Contact
us for more details.
|
How
long does it take to get your pictures? |
| |
A single print can be ready in a couple of days. More
complex collages will be ready in two to three weeks.
